It's a new school year – new challenges – how can school pay for them?
This school year brought about 4 new challenges in Joeys – PTECH, new Junior Cert Curriculum, Joeys team participation in combined Ireland / UK version of Cuchulainn Challenge and implementation of new communications strategy.
Glad to report that the combined team of principal, teachers and Joeys Alumni have faced and is dealing with them – thanks to a mix of Public, Private Funding and good teamwork.
Firstly, the new PTECH programme is now going live in the school (a Joeys Alumni Initiative and a first in Europe). Joeys continues to rise to the occasion – new extension nearing completion, new laptops and Lego Teaching Aids being delivered and curriculum bugs being ironed out thanks (among others) to teaching staff backed up by Aidan Giblin, Programme Manager, industry partners (IBM & Cisco) and Government Funding.
We have also answered an urgent call from the school for funding to:
- Participate in combined Ireland / UK version of Cuchulainn Challenge (€2,000)
- Buy additional laptops required so that students & teachers can implement learning methodologies required by the new Junior Cert Curriculum (€12,300).
We are delighted to report that a number of past pupils have very generously answered our call to fund both these challenges.
Also, good to report that we are implementing our new Social Media strategy and new Joeys Alumni Website thanks to funding by another past pupil (€30,000 gross of taxes).
Watch out for developments on the new website and, please, let us know if you can help in any way - "Neart le Chéile".
Many thanks to our Sponsors, all who helped out agus Joeys Ar Aghaidh!
