The Importance Of YOUR Support

This fundraiser has been organised to fund the activities of Joeys Alumni in supporting both the Primary and Secondary schools.

Joeys (under the patronage of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust) is one of 50 voluntary DEIS schools that are significantly under funded annually compared to other second-level DEIS schools whose non-teacher costs are fully funded by government. Schools like Joeys, however, are unfairly required to cover these costs solely through voluntary contributions.

Joeys Alumni are proactively addressing this issue with a well researched and balanced proposal directly with government which is gathering support both politically and amongst the other disadvantaged DEIS schools’ networks.

It will, however, take time to redress this injustice. In the mean time, our school community needs your support now, as bridging this funding gap is an extremely difficult task that currently falls on parents and pupils from socioeconomically disadvantaged areas and on the teachers serving them.

You can read more about our activities (including our advocacy campaign for equal treatment of all DEIS schools, regardless of ownership) here: https://joeysalumni.com/pages/about_us

Please support our initiative and the great kids and teaching team at our school.
