You can make Ireland a better place

You can make a real difference in peoples’ lives by helping to fund or support pupils past & present in your old school.

Examples of Joeys Alumni ongoing projects requiring funding & support:

1.  Creation and maintenance of a mutually supportive network of past pupils. It doesn’t run on fresh air. It requires funds for website, CRM (database & emailing), other support systems and occasional contract work.

2.  Scholarships (Final recipients of LC 1968 scheme were selected in 2024) – wouldn’t it be good to continue funding students in 3rd level at a cost of €1,000 per annum for 4 years in college – total cost = €4,000 per Leaving Cert. Year Student!

3.  Renovation of School Hall used by both Primary & Secondary.

4.  Student educational trips, e.g. Zamda (Charity in Zambia started and managed by past principal, Pádraig Ó Fainín, inter-school competitions, etc).

5.  Provision of laptop computers, charging and communications equipment required by digitally based aspects of the revised secondary curriculum.

Achievements include:

  • PTech - Pathways in Technology - sponsored by Industry Partners and National University of Ireland. Every pupil has mentor from IBM or Cisco and is learning coding, robotics, artificial intelligence and other real life skills. They receive a third level qualification on completion of the course at Leaving Cert Level.
  • Renovation of Primary School Outbuildings to make them suitable as sports dressing room, meeting spaces and for special educational needs.
  • Renovation of 1880s building. Alumni funding for architect’s report formed the basis for successful applications to Department of Education resulting in State funding of circa €1.4m.
