Past Pupils support the new generation at Joeys

Education is changing day in day out at a rapid pace and Joeys is leading the charge. Joeys is the first #PTECH school in Europe providing this new generation of students with the appropriate educational tools, experience and crucially mentoring by some of the leading companies in technology from Cisco to IBM, Three to Irish Water. The #PTECH programme gives our students the grounding, skills, experience and the foothold they need to progress with careers in technology after school. #PTECH is unique as it addresses the challenges that our students face in developing these skills and nurturing their interest in and helping them recognise the opportunities a career in technology can give them. To validate the success of #PTECH at this early stage all you need to do is watch how captivated and engaged our #PTECH students are in their #PTECH course work; how the course content is giving practical meaning to the subject matter in the traditional classes.

The #PTECH courses work in tandem with the traditional education content. Each student is assigned a mentor from a tech company who dedicates significant time to helping them develop their technology skills and interests.

The #PTECH initiative has been driven by a group of dedicated proactive past pupils and is lead in Ireland by a former Joeys teacher and deputy principal, Aidan Giblin.

Your Joeys Alumni committee continue to promote #PTECH and we recently purchased 80 Chrome-books and customised charging trollies to support our students studies. We are also supporting our amazing teachers with the purchase of two new i5 27" desktops sponsored by Joeys Alumni.
