The gates are now located at main entrance to both Marino Institute of Education (associated to Trinity College) and Christian Brothers Province Centre on Griffith Avenue.

These gates were originally located at the entrance to Lord Charlemont’s Estate, where Joeys is today and became the main entrance to the school until they were re-located to their present site early in the 20th century.

Lord Charlemont's Motto "Deo Duce Ferro Comitante" is engraved in 2 parts over the smaller gates. Deo Duce was adopted as motto for St. Joseph's and Ferro Comitante by St. Vincent's GAA Club.
